British Design Highlights
The British Collection area of Clerkenwell Design Week, is clearly an area worth highlighting. Full of both contemporary furniture and beloved classics.
Below is an iconic classic, call the Butterfly chair, that was on show for all to admire. This gorgeous classic chair, was launched Mid-Century in 1956.
Traditional Windsor wedge and tenon joinery are the statement features of the chair. The Butterfly chair is available in nine statement-making finishes and remains timeless in beauty and elegance.
In sharp contrast to elegant timeless classics, are the exciting contemporary British designers who are taking sustainability seriously.
The Bing range of contemporary soft seating has brought a new sustainable option to the market.
The cushions and upholstery filling are made with post-industrial waste foam that would have otherwise gone to landfill. This is shredded into chips of foam and made into pocketed pads which then maintain their shape and comfort. This is a ground-breaking innovation that is a much more sustainable solution compared to standard commercial seating foam which is an oil-based product.
