The Edit | 70s Curved Furniture
Just as fashion has had the return of the retro boot-cut, now furniture is getting its own 70s reinvention with graceful curves, finger flutes and plumped up chairs.
Chronicled by Design Crucial and Architectural Digest, the 1970s have skyrocketed in 2019 with fringed chairs and rattan furniture increasing in popularity. Naturally following on from this is the shape-shifting trend of curved furniture, from curvy lounges and fluted chairs right through to organically shaped marble tables.
This furniture design trend has picked up speed and is making its way through the restaurant, bar and boutique hotels scene; adopting the 1970s retro-made modern look for this year.

01: Lounges
Cosmo lounge chair
Taking plump and plush to a new level, the Cosmo lounge chair offers a tub like upholstered seat that cocoons you in comfort.
Beetle metal lounge
The iconic Beetle lounge is given a metal star base, updating its look to fit comfortably within the lobby and bar lounges of 1970s Manhattan.

Tonella armchair
Absolute curves and a fluted outer upholstered back rings 70s style, made modern with its metal tubular frame. Hello Tonella.
De Milo chair
Finger flutes and a tub-like rounded seat create the De Milo chair signature, reminiscent of 70s restaurant dining, feeling at home next to a floor-to-ceiling aquarium or cognac bar shelf.
Macka armchair
Cool and collected, the pebble-like shape of the Macka armchair takes us back to the 70s dining tables in LA's post-modern homes.
Twister chair
It doesn't get much rounder than this, the all encompassing moon shaped Twister chair is a prime choice for retro bars and restaurants. *no CMHR foam - only available for projects outside the UK.
Guapa chair
A unique hide leather seat intricately laser-cut to form a net-like patterrn defines the seventies inspired Guapa collection; complete with tubular metal sled base.

The Luca chair has a soft sloping structure that envelops the user in a tub chair style seat, perfect for 70's bar lounges and dining areas.

Apelle side table
Curvy metal supports and a round table top in either glass or hide form the basis for this 70s inspired side table, just room enough for a prawn cocktail and shandy.
Nami coffee table
Edging on retro, the bendy single line rattan base of the Nami coffee table supports the oblong clear glass table top, echoing a 70s Californian vibe.
